How can you mark the birth of son or daughter, 

Or special anniversary to you? 

Or when a child achieves a gown and mortar? 

Or precious moment whether old or new? 

A sonnet is a way to mark forever 

The highs and lows that life will throw at us. 

And with just fourteen lines, a sonnet’s clever, 

Intelligent, and witty with no fuss! 

When we are moved to laughter or to tears 

’Tis rhyme and rhythm ritual demands, 

And we can hold for life our joys or fears 

And give a voice, where silence often harms! 

For all occasions I can write a sonnet, 

From birth, first step, last breath, e’en Easter bonnet!
